Sunday, March 22, 2009 7:00pm - 1:00am
The Cinefamily 611 North Fairfax Avenue, Los Angeles, California 90036 323 655 2510
Produced by Kevin Barker (Currituck Co., Vetiver), The Family Jams features Devendra Banhart, Joanna Newsom, and Vetiver as they tour the country performing their genre-defining music in the summer of 2004. They help each other overcome family tragedies and car accidents, and meet colorful characters, forgotten musical heroes, and folk luminaries as they travel across the country.
The film is an intimate portrait of life on the road for these young musicians early in their careers, playing tiny, obscure clubs and art galleries, but on the verge of larger success where small vans are replaced by large, impersonal tour buses. Here music is a creative, organic, inclusive endeavor. They not only sing about the world in which they want to live, they create it. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
I also just heard about a (((Festival in the Forest))) semi-short film being made. There will be a screening of a rough cut at SXSW. So if you are going to be in Texas on the 20th make sure to catch it along with all the great bands playing before the screening such as Entrance, Akron/Family, Fools Gold, and the Phenomenal Handclap Band.
Well... at least bringing more attention to it. Plus i cant stand how many businesses i see after closing hours that leave all their lights on. Forgive me for those of you who think if you can pay for it you deserve it.
World Wildlife Fund is asking individuals, businesses, governments and organizations around the world to turn off their lights for one hour—– Earth Hour – March 28, 2009, 8:30 pm local time—to make a global statement of concern about climate change and to demonstrate commitment to finding solutions.
Ethan of Howlin' Rain has a new awesome blog up and running.
"Hello Friends! I have got my blog up and running and it will serve you with music, Bootlegs and live material from Howlin Rain and beyond as well as pictures, rants, and general good dope. To prove that this blog is not simply some cracker ass bullshit about my feelings or the music industry or the price of gas I have cut right to the chase and posted a devastating International psych comp that was compiled for me by the legendary promoter/agent/business man/ international psych scholar John Fitzgerald. One mind crushing heavy jam after the next. You are sure to enjoy! I will continue to post Howlin Rain songs and complete live shows for download on the blog in the near future. PEACE! Ethan"
